I am investigating the interplay between cognition, motivation, and emotion as they relate to behavioral inhibition and reward processing. My research aims to investigate the relationship between neural underpinnings and abnormal inhibitory control as it relates to substance use disorder. Specifically, what are the prominent neural signatures in those who lack inhibitory control, and how do they change over time? |
I am an Interdisciplinary Neuroscience PhD student with a focus on emotion. Specifically, my research looks into what motivates some people to feel certain emotions over others. I use EEG data to try and investigate how the neural components of motivation try to explain specific affects during different tasks. I have previously worked on research involving ASD individuals as well as studied cognitive dissonance in students. |
As a Clinical Science student, I study electrocortical signals related to identifying appetitive and aversive stimuli, making decisions to approach or avoid, planning and executing movements, and learning from behavioral outcomes. I aspire to apply the basic neuroscience of affect and motivation to inform interventions for psychological health issues such as drug craving, anhedonia, and posttraumatic anxiety.
